Utrecht’s contribution.

Developed through Pathways to Sustainability, the project defines an interdisciplinary research agenda for pipeline reuse and leakage assessment.

  • Assess material and operational challenges, including material-dependent embrittlement.
  • Evaluate whether monitoring approaches can both detect and quantify hydrogen leaks.
  • Connect release information with environmental assessment and mitigation needs.

Collaboration with RIVM supports this feasibility agenda. Leak detection, release quantification and environmental impact remain distinct research questions; the project does not claim a validated detector or completed field trial.
