RESEARCH FOCUS

Utrecht’s contribution.

Utrecht’s research connects hydrogen investment and business cases with energy-system choices, institutions and society.

  • Assess how technology, markets and policy affect investment viability.
  • Examine legal and institutional conditions for hydrogen adoption.
  • Investigate public acceptance, regional labour-market effects and transition justice.

Socio-technical assessment considers the application, geography and policy context. Commercial viability alone does not establish environmental benefit or a fair distribution of transition effects.
